But why weren't there the energy bolts that shoot out of the Doctor in New Who regenerations?

Did the Doctor use a sonic screwdriver during Genesis of the Daleks? Did he use it in Davro's presence?

Lesterson and the Daleks have been thinking political rings around the Doctor for the past three weeks! He doesn't appear to be very good at politics!

My suggestion: Warn the workers that the Dalek servants will take away their jobs!

But The Power of the Daleks is the 2nd Doctor's first episode, so the 3rd Doctor's actions haven't yet happened! The 2nd Doctor can't possibly KNOW yet that telling Dalek stories does no good, so there is no reason for him not to try that tactic!

I was therefore suggesting that the Doctor tell the Vulcan colonists what he saw the Daleks doing on Skaro! (The Chase would be too fragmented, and the two other Dalek episodes occur well after 2020).

No need for guesswork.

You shouldn't expect the annimators recreating the lost story to
include effects that weren't in the original. State of the art in
special effects wasn't as advanced back in 1966 and Doctor Who didn't
have a budget to take advantage of them anyway.

Considering the shoestring they operated on, the effects they did come
up with were pretty damn good for the time.

Great moments: The Doctor et al getting into an alien space capsule to find two Daleks. They also find evidence that there was a 3rd Dalek, which is now missing. Then a weird creature scuttles under a crack. Was that creature the mutated Kaled that lives in the Dalek casing?

Why did the BBC only show us 1/6th of the episode?

E
The body does get found and someone does ask questions.
Which reinforces my question about what made the Doctor think that
the Examiner's body would not be found.
Probably just post-regeneration confusion.

How does the Dalek recognize the Doctor when the Doctor has just changed his appearance?
Good question.
--
Three possibilities: -

1. This Dalek came from after "Evil" when the Second Doctor was on Skaro.

2. It came from after "Revelation" when the Daleks scanned the Fifth
Doctor for details of his past selves.

3. It just heard the double heartbeat and made an educated guess.

So you are saying that no episode AFTER The Keys Of Marinus ever referenced the Doctor as only having one heart?

This is important, since its possible that the Doctor grew a 2nd heart sometime between Keys and Power. There were fully 3 Dalek episodes between those two episodes. If the Doctor had two hearts during any of those 3 Dalek episodes, the Daleks could have picked up on the double heart beat.

Not well. I last saw it decades ago. I have read that the Keys needed to be found in order to control a computer that controlled the island Marinus. But some idiot inserted a fake key, destroying the computer.

He is saying that. And he's wrong.

There are _no episodes_ where the "Doctor is specifically said to have only
one heart." Yads is thinking of The Sensorites (not The Keys Of Marinus)
which _implies_ he has one heart, but doesn't actually state it.

(How did I get to be radw's resident Hartnell expert? He isn't even my
favourite Doctor.)

Personally I like John Peel's theory that Time Lords get their second heart
the first time they regenerate. (If so, that means this Dalek is from the
Doctor's future. Like Pudentname said, wibbly-wobbly timey-wimey.)

while you're at it, you might upload those clips from The Sensorites

So you are saying that no episode AFTER The Keys Of Marinus ever
referenced the Doctor as only having one heart?
He is saying that. And he's wrong.
There are _no episodes_ where the "Doctor is specifically said to have only
one heart." Yads is thinking of The Sensorites (not The Keys Of Marinus)
which _implies_ he has one heart, but doesn't actually state it.
(How did I get to be radw's resident Hartnell expert? He isn't even my
favourite Doctor.)
Post by Tim Bruening
This is important, since its possible that the Doctor grew a 2nd heart
sometime between Keys and Power. There were fully 3 Dalek episodes
between those two episodes. If the Doctor had two hearts during any of
those 3 Dalek episodes, the Daleks could have picked up on the double
heart beat.
Personally I like John Peel's theory that Time Lords get their second heart
the first time they regenerate. (If so, that means this Dalek is from the
Doctor's future. Like Pudentname said, wibbly-wobbly timey-wimey.)
You re wrong on this one SP..
In the sixth episode The Doctor and Ian were scotuing
to see if a trpa was laid out.
They bump into each other and the doctor mentions about
his heart almot stopping.
--
I don't remember that. Which episode of The Keys Of Marinus was it?
It doesn't seem to be in either of the the transcripts at
http://www.chakoteya.net/doctorwho/1-5.htm or
http://dwtpscripts.tripod.com/1stdoc/e/e0.html
Episode 6 when they have all the keys including the fake one.
No. The Doctor says: "What on earth are you doing, dear boy? You frightened the life out of me."
Should he have said "You frightened one of my 13 lives out of me!"?

The body does get found and someone does ask questions.
Which reinforces my question about what made the Doctor think that
the Examiner's body would not be found.
Probably just post-regeneration confusion.
The killer expected the swamp to consume the body. If The Doctor
hadn't come along, the Earth Examiner would have just disapppeared
without a trace. The body is only found because the killer knew The
Doctor was not the Earth Examiner and directed his minions to where
they could find it ...

Does the Doctor then start asking said minions "How did you know where to find the body of the REAL Examiner?"?

So now the Doctor will have to stand trial on charges of murder and identity theft?

Great moments: The Doctor et al getting into an alien space capsule to find two Daleks. They also find evidence that there was a 3rd Dalek, which is now missing. Then a weird creature scuttles under a crack. Was that creature the mutated Kaled that lives in the Dalek casing?
Why did the BBC only show us 1/6th of the episode?
That was the entire first episode of the serial - in the classic series the stories ran for multiple episodes, and usually had much better plot and characterization because of it.

(Not that I don't enjoy newWho as well, but it too often feels rushed.)

Great moments: The Doctor can threaten to expose the deputy, but the deputy can threaten to expose the Doctor unless the Doctor agrees to not interfere with the Daleks.

The people holding Polly are also demanding that the Daleks be left alone.
