Heavy spoilers warning as usual.

9.5/10 !!

For those who understood the dedoctrination of
those soldiers subjected to totalitarianism
from the atheistic anti-Christian communism to
the neo-pagan anti-Christian Fascism/Naziism,
You will understand why so high a rating.

So I may not like the Coal HIll School scene.

Big deal. Hopefully this new tough as nails teacher
will join the Doctor and Clara.

A good Dalek, could there be such a thing?

What about those who turned from their evil ways
because their society went wrong like Communist or Nazi/Fascist
societies?

The Dalek started out as a human kaled only to have
some of its humanity programmed out of it similar
to what was seen in totalitarian societies of the 20th Century.

Can you make a Dalek good? Can you make all the Daleks good?

What a challenge to be miniturised and then go into battle.

Battling inside a transport machine with a reminent of
an organic Kaled.

First repair the issue that made the patient sick.
Whoops!! Reactivated Dalek programming.

Suddenly you have to fix what you intented to do - create a good Dalek.

On the Aristotle, either save the crew or lose the day!

Clara unlocking the memories plus the Doctor
mind merging with the Dalek 'Rusty' does save the day
and makes the Daleks see the evils of its kind.

Can the rest of the Daleks be reprogrammed?

Clara is back
and the Aristotle is saved with the Daleks in retreat.

And next week the Robin Hood Episode.

Moffat take a bow for this script.

When did some Daleks realize the evil of their society and therefore become good? Can you imagine Daleks shouting "Tear down this Wall!"?

Sadly, Rusty picked up and absorbed the Doctor's own hatred of Daleks, so proceeded with its original plan of exterminating them!

It happens when a Dalek was exposed to a new star being born.

However this is just bringing back the point of the first Dalek episode of
Doctor 8. I still wish that had been left as the final end to Daleks: it summed
up the life and tragedy of being a Dalek.

You mean 9.

> up the life and tragedy of being a Dalek.

As I pointed out in the last series and the one before that and the one
before that, Moffat is redoing RTDs stuff over again and both are redoing
JNTs stuff but better.

Now that Moffat is even redoing his own stuff again (Deep Breath) it looks
like he might have run out of ideas, that's if he ever had and original
ideas in the first place since they all seem to originate from JNTs
instruction manual.

But you typed of MULTIPLE Daleks realizing the evil of their society and therefore becoming good! When did multiple Daleks voluntarily renounce the evil of their societies?

So the other Daleks who were exposed WITH Rusty renounced evil, but died before they could be rescued?

Tough as nails? Were we watching the same episode? He's very shy around
women, and also still seems to be traumatised by at some point in his
military career having apparently been responsible for the death of one
or more civilians. It was surprising in the circumstances that he would
agree to train the school cadet force. But maybe the Head didn't give
him a choice. "You used to be a soldier. You can train the cadets."

But do I agree with you in hoping that he'll become a Companion.

Huh? Your "toungh as nails teacher" was reduced to tears by one child.

Seeing as it already happened in Power of the Daleks, that's a silly
question.

More bollocks.

Kaleds were Kaleds. Not humans.

You already asked that one.

No, there were no "reminents".

No, still not a review Yads. And you're still unnecessarily cross-posting,
and still not indicating in the subject that you're talking about Dr Who
(although at least the word "Dalek" in the episode title makes it pretty
clear in this case). And your first paragraph is complete bollocks.

So ?

Why does this surprise you? And why are you quoting him if he is
supposedly in your killfile?

Bear in mind that this very same person is one who you and 3 or 4 pals
have decided to pick on .... together with anyone else who feels
threatened by his challenging behaviour.

Gee mr. chicken, genius of Usenet, he is killfiled in edm.general, think you
are the only one to killfile an individual group?

I have never picked on binky, I merely have responded in kind to his
trolling behaviour and his endless accusations and outright slanderous
comments he has posted at me over the years.

However history has no interest to you as it interferes with your saviour
delusion, the delusion that requires you to portray binky as a "victim" who
is crippled, speshul, disabled. You also had to befriend binky first,
knowing full well he will hump your leg to the end of time in exchange for a
kind word.

Dr. WTF has you dead to rights when he calls you a sleazy lowlife.

Well so long as you are using my actions on which to base your behaviour
then that is all right then .... isn't it?

Provided of course you aren't hypocritical enough to condemn me for
doing something and then doing that very same thing yourself. But you

Again the reading comprehension failure, maybe some adult learning classes
could help you with this, I use the word "adult" in a general sense not as a
definition of your behaviour.

Read it again chicken, and you are not important enough (except in your own
mind) for me to base anything on your behaviour.

You seem to be a little more desperate everyday, are we not playing along
with your personal script?

That it then? A general sense of failure from me but nothing concrete.

Is it any wonder I have trouble taking this seriously?

Meanwhile I suppose you think you have wriggled out of trouble again ?

I just watched "Into the Dalek". Not much wrong with it ... I suppose
the original inspiration was The Fantastic Journey and maybe Inner Space
as well. With the novelty of exploring the insides of a Dalek as
opposed to a person. It's recognise the sound bite with the original
series trailer being included in this episode ... and a very nice piece
of scriptwriting as well.

Its amazing to think this went out a month ago and so much has changed
since then. I think Capaldi is a very good actor and I am getting used
to the refined Glaswegian accent.

Inspired by "The Invisible Enemy" - 4th Doctor & Leela w/K-9 - which,
in turn was inspired by the 1966 film "The Fantastic Voyage".

The scripts for the "The Invisible Enemy" were commissioned in January
1977 before "Fantastic Journey" was broadcast on the NBC network in
the USA, so I doubt that show had anything to do with the Doctor Who
story, and besides, I don't think any of the episodes of the
"Fantastic Journey" featured miniturization of humans.

"Inner Space" wasn't released until 1987.

Oh yes ... where the Doctor was cloned and miniaturised and then
injected into his own body to try and save his life.

I remember that.

I believe The Fantastic Journey featured Raquel Welsh so it must date
from the early 70s.

The sexy Miss Welch is from the mid 1960s, not the 1970s, not to say that
she wasn't still sexy as she got older. Hollywood put her in movies in
various supporting roles, and didn't pretend that she was a character
actress. One of those movies was Fantastic Voyage (1966), which always
made me want to go into research science.

The starring role that fully exploited her was One Million Years B.C.,
also released the same year.

The following year, Cook and Moore cast her as Lust in Bedazzled.
She was quite believable.

The thing about movies in the 1960s, sigh: Miss Welch wasn't even the
sexiest or the hottest. There were a great many truly beautiful women in
American and European movies. A lot of them could actually act. In those
days, an actress could be beautiful and sexy without weighing 90 pounds.

Yes and it was a time when inhibitions were being broken so films
competed with each other to see how far they could go and get away with
it.

"Fantasic Voyage" is the movie you mean. It starred Raquel Welch and
was released in 1966. "A diplomat is nearly assassinated. In order to
save him, a submarine is shrunken to microscopic size and injected into
his blood stream with a small crew."
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0060397/

"Fantastic Journey" is a completely different thing. It was an American
TV series from 1977 (it ran on NBC from 3 February to 17 June) which is
about "a scientific expedition in the Atlantic Ocean becomes lost in
the Bermuda Triangle and washes up on an uncharted island."

However, the question of whether Daleks could be good was first raised
in "Power".

IIRC

Power - Doctor regenerates, Daleks are on Vulcan and pretend to be servants.

Evil - Huxtible and Waterfield captures Daleks in Time Travel and
humans are converted to daleks and when they try to convert
The Doctor, that causes a basis for a civil war.

What good are servants without hands?

Dalek: "Live Long and Prosper" "How do you expect me to make the Vulcan peace sign without fingers?".

I am imagining Daleks hob knobbing with Spock and saying "Illogical, Illogical!". I am imagining Daleks sporting long ears. But how would they make the Vulcan peace sign without hands?

Imagine Spock mind-melding with a Dalek!

Try Daleks, Cybermen, and Borg ... what an "exciting" conversation that
would be:

"Exterminate!"
"Delete!"
"You will be assimilated!"
"Exterminate!"
"Delete!"

The issue of whether Daleks could be good was raised.

Viewers at the time would have been unlikely to believe that Daleks
could be good, but some of the characters in the story did.

> The human-factor Daleks really were good.

I love the way that their goodness is demonstrated by their
willingness to play a silly game.

Of course, discussing "Power" and "Evil" in relation to "Inside" is a
bit like discussing Shakespeare and Dickens in relation to Jeffrey
Archer.
